Yomylianiz, who goes by the name Yomy, is an energetic girl looking for a family to adopt her and welcome her into their home.

Yomy just had her first day of eighth grade, and she loves school so far. She receives extra help for social, emotional and some academic needs. With her emotional needs being met, Yomy has the ability to work very hard and earn good grades.

The 14-year-old has no problems following the rules, and is able to express her emotions appropriately. She loves playing with her peers and is very engaging and talkative.  Sometimes, she can get caught up in the drama that goes along with teenage social groups. Yomy has a big imagination and a funny sense of humor.

She is very responsible and loves to keep her room and personal space clean and organized. Fashion, art, gymnastics and outdoor activities are a few of Yomy's favorite activities. She does best with clear limits, clear expectations and a follow-through with consequences.

Yomy is very athletic and recently started horseback-riding lessons.  She also loves gymnastics and has much potential in the sport. She would love to continue with gymnastic lessons in her new family. Running, basketball and dance are also some of her favorite physical activities, but Yomy enjoys relaxing by crocheting and drawing as well.

Yomy describes herself as being shy, friendly, athletic, full of energy and having a good sense of humor.

Yomy is legally freed for adoption. Her social worker believes she would benefit from a two-parent family with at least one female parent, and one younger and one older child in the home or a childless home. A single-female family will also be considered.

Yomy's new family must be open to monthly or more frequent in-person visits with her brother who lives in western Massachusetts. Also, Yomy would benefit from a family who will foster her love for gymnastics and other interests while also setting clear boundaries and instilling clear communication.

There is an open adoption agreement for two visits per year with her birth parents.

Who Can Adopt?

If you’re at least 18, have a stable source of income and have room in your heart, you may be a perfect match to adopt a waiting child. Adoptive parents can be single, married or partnered; experienced or not; renters or homeowners; LGBTQ+ singles and couples. As an adoptive parent, you won’t have to pay any fees. Adoption from foster care is free in Massachusetts.

The process to adopt a child from foster care includes training, interviews and home visits to determine if adoption is right. These steps will help match you with a child or sibling group that will be a good fit.

To learn more about adoption from foster care, call the Massachusetts Adoption Resource Exchange (MARE) at (617) 964-6273 or visit www.mareinc.org. Start the process today and give a waiting child a permanent place to call home.
