Skylar is a charming little girl. She loves to play musical instruments, use her imagination, dance and listen to music on the radio.

She loves school, which offers her the structure and routine on which she thrives. She will enter fifth grade this fall.

She also enjoys books, toys and movies.

Skylar does well socially with her peers but can get upset at times when she is bullied or if she needs to depend on herself.

Skylar describes herself as funny and loving, and she thrives with one-on-one attention and caring support from adults.

Skylar will need a family to go above and beyond to show her their love, affection and attention. The family also will need to follow through with routine and structure.

Skylar has three siblings living in western Massachusetts with whom she will need virtual and in-person contact at least monthly.

Who Can Adopt?

If you’re at least 18, have a stable source of income and have room in your heart, you may be a perfect match to adopt a waiting child. Adoptive parents can be single, married or partnered; experienced or not; renters or homeowners; LGBTQ+ singles and couples. As an adoptive parent, you won’t have to pay any fees. Adoption from foster care is completely free in Massachusetts.

The process to adopt a child from foster care includes training, interviews and home visits to determine if adoption is right for you. These steps will help match you with a child or sibling group that will be a good fit.

To learn more about adoption from foster care, call the Massachusetts Adoption Resource Exchange (MARE) at (617) 964-6273 or visit Start the process today and give a waiting child a permanent place to call home.
