ACUSHNET (WBSM) — Acushnet Police are investigating after shots were fired at a residence Tuesday morning and a person suffered a minor injury.

According to Police Chief Thomas Carreau, officers responded just after 2:30 a.m. on January 21 to a residence on Slocum Street and were able to contain the situation.

While the investigation remains active and ongoing, Carreau did say it was not a random act. One person suffered a "minor injury," according to the chief.

“Detectives are working diligently to gather information and identify those responsible,” he said, noting that Acushnet Police are “working closely with local and state law enforcement agencies to resolve the situation and maintain the peace.”

Anyone with information or video of the incident is asked to contact the Acushnet Police Detective Division at (508) 998-0240.

“We are taking this matter very seriously and are committed to ensuring the safety of our community,” Carreau said. “We encourage anyone who may have seen or heard anything suspicious around 2:30 a.m. to come forward.”
