ACUSHNET — Acushnet firefighters responded to a garage fire Tuesday morning on Leonard Street.

The call came in at about 9:54 a.m., and the two-stall garage was fully involved by the time firefighters arrived. They battled the blaze and prevented the fire from spreading to the home, which was separated from the garage by just 10 feet. There was no damage to the home except for two windows broken from the heat.

Acushnet Fire Chief Kevin Gallagher tells WBSM News that firefighters had the fire under control in about 20 minutes, and no injuries were reported. He says the garage was completely destroyed.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.

The Rochester Fire Department provided a tanker with 3,000 gallons of water, while the Fairhaven Fire Department provided station coverage.
