ROCHESTER — At a press conference on Thursday, Michael Camara, CEO of ABC Disposal, announced a new, 103,000-square foot facility that will handle trash and recyclables collected by the company.

Camara said the new plant should in be operation in April or May of next year, and will be a one-stop facility for all waste and recyclable materials. He added that the facility will produce the cleanest recyclables on the East Coast.

Zero Waste Solutions, as it will be called, is designed to answer the problem of rapidly filling landfills in Massachusetts. The facility will not only accept trash and recycling from Eastern Massachusetts, but also sort and bale recyclables and mechanically remove additional recyclables that are found in trash.

The facility will be located on Cranberry Highway in Rochester, and Camara says he expects it will employ between 50 and 100 people.
