A day of fun in the sun with your family and friends is best spent at the Westport Fair. The event kicks off on Wednesday, July 17 with gates opening at 6 p.m.

It wouldn't be a fair without a horseshoe tournament. Signs up are at 6 p.m., and only 32 teams are permitted to compete.

A Concrete Slab Pull is happening at 6:30 p.m. and you can expect to see 4,030 pounds being pulled.

Over at the Main Track, there will be the New England Garden Tractor Pull contest featuring tractors from 1,200-1,400 pounds. And if you're an animal lover, there's even a tent featuring the Pygmy Goat, and 4-H youth fitting and breeding classes.

The Horseshoe tournament kicks off 7 p.m., followed by performance art demonstrations and the home-brewed band through 11 pm. Flow Arts Show will wrap up the activity-filled day with theatre, dance and circus-style entertainment.

Thursday, July 18 consists of much of the same, except the Main Track switches things up with a mass mini puller 1,850-2,050 pound class pullers. Live music will feature Rednecks, a local country band. As 8 p.m. rolls around, you can expect an appearance from the Mad Science of Southern MA and RI.

Friday, July 19 features new entertainment of South County Line and Cool Banana Wig on Friday night between 7-11 p.m., as well as a Weight Transfer Sled at the Main Track featuring 5,000-7,600 pound Sleds.

On Saturday, July 20, the fair starts a little earlier at 11 a.m. with the animal tent featuring a rabbit and cavy show. Performances by Whiskey Affliction Band will be going on between noon and 4 p.m. There will be seven Pulling Track classes happening between noon and 5 p.m. And a special barbeque featuring all chicken will be served between 5 p.m. and 7 p.m. Goat Ropers band and Toe Jam Puppet Band will be performing at various times between 7 p.m. and 11 p.m. And to wrap up the festivities, a baked good auction will take place at 9 p.m.

Sunday, July 21 is the last day of the Westport Fair. The final day kicks off at 9 a.m. with eight classes being held between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. for those interested in pickup truck classes. The animal tent will feature dairy cattle. The entertainment center will start off with True, a classic rock and roll band at 1 p.m. Pedal pulls and children's games will be held in the Center Ring at 2 p.m. with an interactive drum program happening at 5 p.m. The Horseshoe tournament kicks off the 7 p.m. with signups at 6 in the Center Ring. The largest Weight Transfer Sled happens at 7 p.m. with sled weights between 8,800-13,000 pounds.

As you can see, there are plenty of chances to get out to the Westport Fair to enjoy tractor pulling, eating, a petting zoo, live music, and a ton of demonstrations. You don't want to miss out on this annual event.
