Woman Standing In Roadway Leads To Taunton Drug Arrest
A Taunton woman is facing drug trafficking charges after she was found standing in a roadway.
Massachusetts State Police say that at around 5:10 p.m. Sunday a Trooper was on patrol near Granite St. when he saw a woman standing in the middle of the roadway.
He then focused his attention on a nearby vehicle that the woman appeared to be associated with.
An investigation then determined that a passenger in the vehicle had 37 grams of a substance, believed to be heroin, in her posession.
The passenger, identified as 34-year-old, Wendy Ponte, of Taunton was arrested on charges of Trafficking in Heroin, Resisting Arrest, and Disorderly Conduct.
Ponte was held pending bail and arraignment in Taunton District Court.
