Woman Hospitalized, Dog Hurt After Pit Bull Attack in New Bedford
NEW BEDFORD - Three dogs are under quarantine orders after they allegedly got loose from their yard and attacked a woman and her dog in New Bedford.
New Bedford Police say the victim was walking her dog in the area of Hemlock and Gosnold Streets at around 6:30 a.m. on Sunday morning when three pit bulls escaped a fenced-in yard in the area and attacked the woman and the dog. The woman was transported to St. Luke's Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The victim's dog also suffered minor injuries.
The owner of the pit bulls immediately responded after seeing his dogs had escaped the yard. The man was cooperative with police and said the dogs had never escaped before.
The pit bulls have been placed under quarantine.
The incident remains under investigation.
