Why Police Should Leave Hurricane Barrier Homeless Alone [Poll]
At this time the man remains nameless. He has an undisclosed age. According to New Bedford Police, this homeless individual choked and died on a piece of pizza.
Police can tell us the man died not far from his waterfront abode, a tent city on the edge of the hurricane barrier off Cove Road. If this is true, there's an encampment in the vicinity of the South End police station. That would mean the tent city is virtually under their nose.
If there is an encampment then the homeless group has fantabulous, rent-free digs. I've heard no complaints. If the police know about the encampment and there are no problems, no crime, no victims, then let them live their lives in peace. Leave peaceful peeps alone. New Bedford authorities have much larger fish to fry. If and when the homeless seek help, the city has service providers up the ying yang to assist.
