The new Ron Howard film, "In the Heart of the Sea" is a movie that delves deep into the history of whaling in New England and one that ultimately led to herman Mellvilles' novel "Moby-Dick."

In an effort to connect the movie's recent release and the historic ties to New Bedford's whaling industry, the New Bedford Whaling Museum will be displaying clothes worn by actors while filming the movie.

Museum President and CEO James Russell announced the special event, scheduled for Sunday, December 20, and noted that all the money raised by the turnout will go to the Neediest Families Fund.

The Museum will be open Sunday from 9-5, so if your a fan of the whaling industry, the film, or history, it would be worth heading down to check out the items on display.

here's a trailer of the movie, if you've yet to see it...
