Happy Wet Nose Wednesday! Let's talk dogs.

There are hundreds of animals on the SouthCoast that are anxiously waiting for forever families. Thanks to local shelters, these animals have a fighting chance.

Every week, we give one lucky animal the spotlight that is up for adoption in hopes of finding them the perfect home, and this week, we head to New Bedford where a tiny mixed breed is ready to show off her big personality.

Meet Chickpea. Chickpea is a mixed breed and currently resides at Lighthouse Animal Shelter in New Bedford. This little girl is around 8 years old, weighs 33 pounds, and the volunteers at the shelter cannot get enough of her cuteness.

She may be small, but she's got a big personality.

"We are still getting to know Chickpea, but what we do know is she’s playful, curious, and very food motivated," said the shelter. "And she really loves shaking around a rope toy!"

Chickpea seems to be blind in her right eye, but that doesn't slow her down. She is typically friendly right away and does well with other dogs.

Does Chickpea sound like a good fit for you and your family? Contact Lighthouse Animal Shelter, like them on Facebook, and schedule a play date today.

Chickpea cannot wait to meet you.

If SouthCoast Dogs Had a Dating App, It Would Look Something Like This

August 26 is International Dog Day, and it got me thinking. What if there was a way for dogs to connect with other dogs in the area to make new friends? Or maybe even find love? Twenty-six dogs living on the SouthCoast sent me their profile picture and bio. Let's see the eligible pups.
