Happy Wet Nose Wednesday! Let's talk animals.

If you are looking to add a pet to your family this year, consider adoption. There are hundreds of animals just waiting in local shelters to find their forever home.

Every week, we shine a light on one of these animals in hopes of uniting them with the perfect family. This week, we head to New Bedford where a resilient hound refuses to let his past define his bright future.

Meet Antley. Antley is a 2-year-old, 47-pound hound mix at Lighthouse Animal Shelter in New Bedford and he is the ultimate adventure buddy.

This sweet boy had a rough start at life. He was subjected to abuse and neglect, but despite it all, he remains sweet, loving, and eager to trust the right person.

Antley's heart is as big as his floppy ears and he is the definition of hound dog-- loyal, curious, and always ready to follow his nose to new discoveries.

"Antley is always ready for an adventure, whether it's a long hike, a day of sniffing around, or  just soaking in the sights and sounds of nature," said the shelter. "Though he has a bit of a wild side, he's working hard on his house manners and getting better with potty training every day."

Antley gets along well with other dogs and tolerates cats. He may take some time and effort, but the reward is a loving, loyal dog and best friend for life.

Does Antley sound like a good fit for you and your family? Contact Lighthouse Animal Shelter online and schedule a play date today.

Antley cannot wait to meet you.

If SouthCoast Dogs Had a Dating App, It Would Look Something Like This

August 26 is International Dog Day, and it got me thinking. What if there was a way for dogs to connect with other dogs in the area to make new friends? Or maybe even find love? Twenty-six dogs living on the SouthCoast sent me their profile picture and bio. Let's see the eligible pups.
