WESTPORT (WBSM) — Westport Police have arrested a man charged with multiple counts of child rape.

According to police, Westport detectives with assistance from the Swansea Police Department arrested Steven Correia of Westport on Friday, March 28.

Detectives obtained a warrant for Correia’s arrest following an investigation that led to him being charged with two counts of rape of a child with force, aggravated rape of a child under 12, aggravated rape of a child over 12, two counts of indecent assault and battery on a child under 14, and indecent assault and battery on a person 14 or older.

Police gave no other details regarding the charges against Correia.

He was initially held on $100,000 bail, and then during his arraignment Monday was ordered held without bail pending a dangerousness hearing scheduled for today.
