Westport Man Arrested After Best Buy Geek Squad Finds Suspicious Bookmark
WESTPORT — Westport police say an elderly town resident has been arrested on child porn possession and other pending charges after Best Buy employees working on his computer found a suspicious bookmark on the device.
Detectives arrested Richard Vohnoutka Sr., of 793 Gifford Road, on Wednesday.
According to police, Vohnoutka was getting his computer serviced by Best Buy's Geek Squad in October when they discovered a suspicious bookmark that they thought might lead to child pornography.
After the incident was reported, Westport detectives seized the device and were later granted a warrant to search it.
They allegedly found hundreds of images of child sexual abuse material on the computer.
Vohnoutka was arrested and detectives were granted another search warrant for his home.
Police say the search of his home turned up more child pornography images along with four "unsecured firearms."
Vohnoutka has been arraigned on the child porn possession charge in Fall River District Court.
No further details have been disclosed, although police say additional charges are pending.
The investigation is ongoing.
