WESTPORT — Police in Westport have searched a home in the town, recovering stolen items and arresting a man linked to a motorcycle gang.

Westport Police were notified of the theft of thousands of dollars in items from a home on Amory Pettey Road about two weeks ago. Among the stolen items were fishing rods and reels and construction tools.

On Thursday, police learned that several of the stolen items had been taken to a Fall River Pawn Shop. As a result, Westport Police obtained a search warrant to look for additional stolen items at a home at 138 Briggs Road in the town.

Police searched the home and located additional items that had been reported stolen from the Amory Pettey Road address. During the search, police spoke with the resident of the Briggs Road home, Tobias Araujo, 58, who had been identified as a suspect in the theft. Araujo allegedly identified a second individual connected to the theft.

Araujo was arrested and charged with receiving stolen property, possession of ammunition without a firearms identification card, and possession of a dangerous weapon. Westport Police did not disclose what type of ammunition was discovered or where it was found. They also did not disclose what type of weapon was located.

During the search, investigators located several identification cards and membership patches from the Fall River Sidewinders Outlaw Motorcycle Club.

The theft remains under investigation.
