A Westport man has been indicted in a drunk driving accident that left one woman dead in October.

The Fall River Herald reported 62-year-old Robert Hansen was charged by a Bristol County grand jury last week with manslaughter by operating under the influence and motor vehicle homicide by operating under the influence.

Hansen is believed to have been speeding and driving erratically down the westbound lane on Route 6 in Westport when he struck the car of 73-year-old Geraldine Correia of Dartmouth. Correia was ejected from her vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene.

Prosecutors said police found a partially consumed bottle of tequila as well as several empty bottles inside Hansen's Ford Escape and that he failed a field sobriety test.

Hansen denied being intoxicated or drinking prior to the incident and claimed Correia's car pulled out in front of him.

The case will be tried at Fall River Superior Court. No arraignment date has been set.
