Westport Organizing Three-Day Fair That’ll Make You Say ‘Holy Cow’
Wonderful news out of Westport as a fall fair event has been confirmed for 2021.
On Thursday evening, June 17, the Westport Fair Committee met to give a green light for a three-day event that will be happening on October 15-17. This is not a Harvest Festival, but more of a smaller version of the Westport Fair. The planning is still in the beginning stages, but the committee will announce further details as they emerge.
All three days will feature different events to fill the schedule, and the following events have been confirmed as part of the lineup:
- Chicken BBQ
- Tractor pull
- Slab pull
- Family Fun Day
- Entertainment/bands/performances (still being discussed)
However, there will be no carnival rides at the upcoming fair, which will allow more room for the tractors to line up and have a place to park.
The daily times for the event are as follows:
- Friday, October 15 from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m.
- Saturday, October 16 from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. (chicken dinner and tractor pulls)
- Sunday, October 17from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. (Family Fun Day)
Originally planned for July 14-18, the Westport Fair was canceled due to the fact that there simply wasn't enough time to pull everything together in time once Massachusetts lifted COVID-19 restrictions. So to make up for it, the committee will have the fall event instead as a smaller version of the fair.
"We're trying to do something to remind people that we’re still here, still strong, and can't wait to give back to the community," said fair member Megan Barbosa.
As of right now, there is no set name for the event, but the committee is open to hearing what the community has for ideas. Volunteers are being called upon and the committee is in search of a trash company that could lend a hand. Interviews for a new security company are now being conducted. Message them on their Facebook page if interested in helping or to suggest a name.
