The Town of Wareham is one of a few local communities participating in the National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day.

Area residents can bring their unwanted or old prescription drugs to collection sites throughout the Southcoast, and safeley dispose of them.

Wareham Police Chief Richard Stanley tells WBSM News any other method of disposal may be irresponsible.

Wareham residents can bring their prescription drugs to the fire station on Main Street on Saturday from 10am-2pm.

Folks in New Bedford can visit Police Headquarters on Rockdale Avenue at the same time to dispose of their drugs.

The National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day is organized by the Drug Enforcement Administration.
