The familiar sounds of bell-ringing outside of grocery stores and other high-trafficked areas have begun to fill the ears of shoppers.

The Salvation Army's Red Kettle Campaign is accepting donations ahead of the holiday season to help provide toys for children, coats for the homeless, food for the hungry, and many other charitable causes.

Major Gil Parkhurst of the New Bedford Salvation Army says he's hoping for a milestone year for donations.

Volunteers are needed to assist in bell ringing in nearly twenty locations throughout Greater New Bedford. If you'd like to help out, call the Salvation Army at 508-997-6561.
