Description:

Help package and/or deliver food items for seniors and disabled residents in New Bedford. The Brown Bag Program's next volunteer opportunity will take place on May 22, 2020, with two shifts.

The first shift will be from 8-10 am. Volunteers will pack food items into brown bags. This shift is very fast-paced and not recommended for those uncomfortable standing for long periods of time. It's exhilarating!

The second shift will be that of delivery. The shift will be from 10 am to 12 pm and volunteers will be at the different sites delivering the groceries to the doors of the recipients. This is a slower-paced activity and a little more time-consuming.

Victoria Grasela is the Vice President of Marketing and Community Engagement at United Way of Greater New Bedford. She explained that there is a great need to support these individuals on the SouthCoast. “The need for food is a growing issue in our community and across the country," said Grasela. "This is a great opportunity for people to volunteer their time to ensure our neighbors have the food they need during this difficult time.”

When responding to this opportunity, please include what shift you prefer. Volunteers are welcome to take a double shift! Masks are required.
