Victim Identified in Fatal New Bedford Hit and Run Monday
NEW BEDFORD — Authorities have released the identity of the person killed in Monday morning's hit and run in the Weld Square area.
The Bristol County District Attorney's Office has identified the victim as Lionel Racine, 59, of New Bedford.
Gregg Miliote, a spokesman for the District Attorney's Office, says the investigation is ongoing.
Little information about the incident has been released. New Bedford Police say the crash between a motor vehicle and a pedestrian took place at around 5 a.m. Monday in the area of Pleasant and Weld Streets. The incident is being investigated as a hit and run, according to police.
No description of the vehicle or driver believed to be involved have been made available.
