The Dartmouth Housing Authority is now accepting applications for the O'Conner-Sisson House, located at the former State Police barracks on State Road.

The house contains nine efficiency units earmarked for homeless veterans or veterans at-risk for homelessness.

Housing Authority Director Connie Desbiens is hoping occupants will be moving in by mid-October. " We're proud to say this is the first veterans house in the town of Dartmouth and although that we're only nine units large, we're proud of those nine units."

Desbins says she's hoping other organizations will step up to meet the housing needs of veterans.

Coastline Elderly Services and the Veterans Transition house will be supplying services to occupants, including job and education counseling, money management and meals on wheels, if necessary.
