Unlicensed Driver Arrested After Hitting Dartmouth Teen
DARTMOUTH - A 14-year-old girl is listed in stable condition after being hit by a car in the Bliss Corner area Thursday night.
The accident took place just after 5 P.M. At 597 Dartmouth Street. Witnesses say two cars had stopped to allow the girl to cross the street when another car swerved around them and hit the girl. The victim was seriously injured and medflighted to Hasbro Children's Hospital in Providence where she's now in stable condition.
Half an hour after the accident, the driver turned herself in at the Dartmouth Police Headquarters.
Police arrested the driver, 34-year-old Jessica Skaggs of New Bedford, charging her with leaving the scene of an accident resulting in bodily injury and unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle.
The crash remains under investigation.
