Getting the next generation engaged in the democratic process is a constant concern of many, and a local university may be making strides in that department.

UMass Dartmouth is launching a new program that will allow students to receive real-time updates on upcoming elections and their voter status.

It's called TurboVote, and UMass Dartmouth Student Trustee Jacob Miller tells WBSM News students can sign up online for the free service.

Miller says it's available across all platforms, including computers, tablets, and cell phones.

UMass Dartmouth is the first public institution in the state to offer the TurboVote service.
