DARTMOUTH — Two Dartmouth police officers were exposed to fentanyl during a traffic stop on Saturday.

Saturday afternoon at approximately 12:36 p.m., the two officers were arresting an individual associated with a traffic stop on State Road. During the arrest, the two officers were exposed to fentanyl, which was secreted inside both the vehicle and the suspect’s wallet.

As a result of their exposure, the two officers were transported to St. Luke’s Hospital, where they were evaluated and subsequently released.

The operator of the vehicle, 29-year-old Jared Barbosa of Fall River, was arrested on two outstanding warrants, both of which were drug-related.

Police say additional charges associated with the fentanyl are pending.
