Two Children Injured in New Bedford Driveway Accident
NEW BEDFORD — New Bedford Police are actively investigating an accident that has left two siblings injured this afternoon.
A six-year-old boy and his five-year-old sister were playing in a cardboard box near the driveway of 43 Roosevelt Street. At about 4:30 p.m., the owner of the house was pulling into the driveway, could not see the cardboard box the children were playing in, and ran over the box. Both children were injured as a result.
The boy sustained minor injuries, however the girl suffered serious injuries and was medflighted to Boston’s Children’s Hospital.
Preliminary investigation shows this was an unfortunate accident.
"Our thoughts and prayers are with the five-year-old girl and her family," Police spokesman Lt. Amos Melo said.
Police not releasing names of the victims or male driver at this time.
