Two Charged After Police Search New Bedford Apartment

Two New Bedford residents are under arrest after police searched their apartment.

New Bedford Police assigned to the Organized Crime Intelligence Bureau executed a search warrant at 146 Nye Street, Apt. 8 Thursday night.

The targets of the investigation were arrested outside of the home without incident.

During a search of the apartment, police found a loaded .380 caliber handgun. Police have filed charges against 24-year-old Nathaniel DePina and 21-year-old Maegan Ann Brume of that address, including unlawful possession of a firearm and ammunition.

It's DePina's third firearms offense, and he's also charged with being a career criminal.

The couple has been arraigned in New Bedford District Court.
