NEW BEDFORD — Two city men are under arrest after they are found to be carrying unlicensed firearms outside of New Bedford Third District Court.

The incident occurred at about 11:55 a.m. on Tuesday, June 18, when a member of the Massachusetts State Police Gang Unit observed a group of people acting suspiciously outside of the Third District Courthouse on North Sixth Street.

The trooper notified the New Bedford Police Gang Unit for assistance, and police say that after they interacted with two individuals, a struggle ensued with one male. They say that as a result of the struggle, they located a firearm on 18-year-old Alante Brown of 398 Elm Street in New Bedford. Brown was subsequently arrested.

Also arrested as 26-year-old Manny Andrews of 7 Bannister Street in New Bedford.

Both are charged with carrying a loaded firearm without a license and receiving stolen property.
