Two Arrested in Separate Drug Incidents in New Bedford
NEW BEDFORD — Members of the New Bedford Police narcotics unit were conducting surveillance in the south end targeting street-level narcotics use when they observed a male exit Freitas Package Store, 1295 Cove Road. The man proceeded to the parking lot, where he opened a beer can and drank from it.
When police placed him in custody, it was determined he was in possession of Suboxone.
Police arrested Joey Roderick Wilson, 51, of 9 Edward St. Apt. 1, New Bedford, on charges of possession of an open container of alcohol and possession of Suboxone.
The arrest was made at 11:09 a.m. Wednesday July 18.
A short time later, narcotics officers were conducting surveillance in the west end when they observed a male leaving a residence in the 100-block of Chestnut Street acting suspiciously.
When police stopped his vehicle, he threw something on the ground which was determined to be cocaine.
Police subsequently arrested Christopher St. Pierre, 35, of 133 Ruth St. Apt. 1, New Bedford, on charges of possession of cocaine and a warrant out of Fall River District Court.
The arrest was made at 1:29 p.m. Wednesday July 18.
