Two Arrested After New Bedford Police Find Fentanyl in Car
NEW BEDFORD — Two New Bedford residents are arrested after police allegedly find one of them in possession of drugs.
Members of the New Bedford Police Narcotics Unit were targeting street-level narcotics use in the city's North End on Monday night when they observed two people in a vehicle parked on Brook Street acting suspiciously. Detectives followed the car and stopped it in the 100-block of Lafayette Street.
Police searched the vehicle and the occupants and found a small amount of Fentanyl in the possession of the passenger.
The passenger, Savanna Simba Siler, 27, of New Bedford, was arrested and charged with possession of Fentanyl.
The driver of the vehicle, Robert Abdelkader, 28, of New Bedford, was also arrested and charged with operating a motor vehicle with a revoked license.
The arrests were made at 11:26 p.m. and 11:27 p.m., respectively.
