NEW BEDFORD - A two-alarm fire in an industrial building in New Bedford's North End is under investigation.

The fire was reported around 5:30 p.m. Saturday in the Clean Uniforms and More complex at 355 Church Street. Five engines and two ladder trucks responded to the smoky fire, which originated toward the middle of the large building, making it difficult for firefighters to access.

The fire was knocked down within an hour. No injuries were reported. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.

New Bedford Fire Station 9 at Tarkiln Hill Road and Ashley Boulevard would normally have been the first responding engine, but the station was blacked out Saturday in accordance with rolling blackouts due to budgetary constraints.
