The Superintendent of schools is moving ahead with a turnaround plan for New Bedford High School, that includes replacing the schools administrative team and a 50% change-over in the  teaching staff. 

Supt. Pia Durkin announced her intentions Monday night during a meeting of the New Bedford School Committee. 

Minutes later, teachers union President Lou St. John said selecting the turnaround model for the high school was simply wrong.....

Supt. Durkin says the turnaround plan includes lengthening the school day and the school year.  She said the personnel change-over was mandated in Federal regulations in order to reset the culture of the High School......

About 100 teachers attended Monday night's meeting, wearing red in support of the teachers union.
