Triple Stabbing Reported on Brownell St. in New Bedford

The New Bedford Police Department is investigating after a reported triple stabbing on Brownell Street.

According to a source, the incident occurred Tuesday night right before 5:15 p.m. New Bedford police followed ambulances to Rhode Island Hospital, where two stabbing victims were transported. A third victim was reportedly transported to St. Luke's Hospital.

Yesterday on Twitter at 5:26 p.m. the police department reported an "active crime scene on Brownell St." and referenced an "ongoing investigation with a heavy police presence." The department stated that the public was not at risk, and asked people to avoid the area.

Contacted by email last night at around 6:30 p.m., New Bedford Police Department Communications Director Melissa Batchilder declined to provide additional information or confirm any details about the incident.
