Reverend David Lima is a leader in the City of New Bedford.  He serves as the Executive Minister of the Interchurch Council of New Bedford.  He was recently named the 2017 winner of the Sister Rose award for his efforts to help the homeless in New Bedford.  Rev. Lima has also led the way in fighting the opioid crisis in the region, organizing response teams with the Police and Fire Departments and others to visit homes where drug overdoses have occurred to encourage drug-users and their families to seek out help.  Rev. Lima has also formed a Community Coalition to reduce suicides in New Bedford.  That Coalition has conducted numerous training sessions in schools and businesses, helping people to recognize when others are depressed and might need a helping hand.

Reverend David Lima joins WBSM's Jim Phillips on this week's Townsquare Sunday to look at the progress made in these areas in 2017, and look ahead to 2018.
