Dr. Michael Rocha has been working hard over the past few years to make the residents of New Bedford healthier. Whether it's the wellness walks from the Buttonwood Zoo during the summer, or the mall walks during the winter season, Dr. Rocha's goal is to keep people moving. He's also initiated wellness programs at the New Bedford Boys and Girls Club on Sunday.

Dr. Rocha is invested in the City of New Bedford. He graduated from New Bedford High School in 1993, and earned a degree from UMass Dartmouth, then taught school for a year in Somerset before enrolling in UMass Medical School in Worcester. He served his residency at Tufts New England Medical Center and now practices cardiology at Hawthorn Medical Associates in Dartmouth.

During his appearance on Townsquare Sunday, Dr. Rocha will discuss participation in his wellness initiatives and his plans for expanding services in 2018.

Townsquare Sunday with Jim Phillips can be heard each Sunday at 6am on WBSM 1420 and WBSM.com. Townsquare Sunday is a weekly public affairs program highlighting non-profits and community organizations in the Greater New Bedford area.
