‘Top Ten’ Suspect in Fall River Captured After Head-On Crash
FALL RIVER - One of Fall River's "Top Ten Most Wanted" suspects is captured after being injured in a car crash.
Fall River Police say they were alerted to a suspicious vehicle parked in a driveway on Snell Street Thursday morning, with the occupants jumping over a nearby wall toward another house.
However, when police arrived at the location, the Honda was gone from the driveway, and was reported seen in the area of Stafford Road and Globe Street.
Police found the vehicle and attempted to pull it over, but the car sped away. Police did not engage in pursuit.
Soon after, the Honda crashed head on with another car.
The driver of the Honda, 22-year-old Aaron Affonso of Fall River, tried to flee the scene on foot with injuries to both of his legs. He was soon caught and transported to Rhode Island Hospital.
Affonso is being charged with operating a motor vehicle to endanger, leaving the scene of an accident causing personal injury and property damage, failure to stop for police, and operating a motor vehicle after suspension of license.
Affonso was wanted for outstanding warrants for breaking and entering into a building at nighttime, vandalism of property, larceny over $250, and larceny from a building.
Three other people involved in the accident were also hospitalized for non-life threatening injuries.
