“FaceTime with Nana” just leveled up big time.

Irene Beauregard of New Bedford is celebrating her 90th birthday on Friday, May 8. Birthdays are looking a little different these days due to the novel coronavirus, so her family had to get a little creative for the big milestone.

Her granddaughter, Dartmouth native Katelyn Beauregard, knows that she is a huge fan of Hoda Kotb and Jenna Bush Hager of “Today with Hoda & Jenna.” She originally reached out to see if they’d send Irene a quick video with a birthday shoutout.

“They took it a huge step further,” said Katelyn. “They loved her story. She's lived in the same house for over 50 years, in the same city for 90, and is as hip as ever with her iPhone, tablet, and pop culture knowledge! They wanted to brighten her spirits since she's been really missing her grandchildren. So, they proposed surprising her with a FaceTime this morning during the show, and then they decided to send their correspondent, Donna, and surprise her with a Red Sox jersey, balloons, and flowers! She was so surprised!”

The video of the segment was posted on the “Today with Hoda & Jenna” Facebook page on Wednesday, May 6. “Hoda and Jenna reached out to 90-year-old Irene in Massachusetts ahead of her birthday Friday.” Katelyn and the rest of Irene’s grandchildren are beyond thrilled with the way this all worked out. Irene deserves every second of this amazing birthday wish. “We love you so much, Nana! Thank you for bringing so much joy to us every single day!”
