NEW BEDFORD — Three new principals have been appointed to Hayden McFadden, Renaissance and Rodman Schools for the upcoming academic year.

New Bedford Superintendent of Schools Thomas Anderson announced in a release that Kim Marshall, Amy Huston, and Katelyn O'Donoghue have started in their new roles at Hayden McFadden, Rodman, and Renaissance schools over the summer.

"It is a pleasure to welcome these accomplished leaders," Anderson said. "They bring a wealth of educational and administrative experience to their schools."

The new principals were introduced at a School Committee meeting on Aug. 15.

All three will be announcing opportunities to meet and greet them at their respective schools in the coming days.

Kim Marshall, Hayden McFadden Elementary School Principal

Kim Marshall started as the principal at Hayden McFadden on July 1.

She had previously served as leader of Rodman School for eight years following a 14-year career as an elementary school educator in New Bedford's public schools.

"I am very excited to return to the school where I began my teaching career 23 years ago," Marshall said.

"I look forward to meeting and working with the Hay Mac Heroes and their families this upcoming school year. It’s going to be a great year!"

Amy Huston, Thomas Rodman Elementary School Principal

Amy Huston began her role as principal at Rodman Elementary School on July 11.

She joins the school after serving as an Assistant Principal at Hayden McFadden School for the past five years.

Huston had previously served as an assistant principal for 11 years at both the elementary and the middle school level, and was a teacher and guidance counselor at New Bedford Public Schools for a decade.

"I am excited to support an amazing staff and work with the students and families of the Rodman community," Huston said.

Katelyn O’Donoghue, Renaissance Community Innovation School Principal

Katelyn O’Donoghue started as principal at Renaissance Community Innovation School on Aug. 1.

 

O'Donoghue has worked in public education for 22 years, most recently serving as Assistant Principal at the JFK Elementary School in Holbrook for five years.

 

She has been an elementary educator, a program supervisor for the Community Learning Centers, and a district math coordinator.

"I am extremely proud and excited to be joining the Renaissance School community," O'Donoghue said.

"My goal as principal is to support my teachers and families as we work together to provide our students with the skills and mindset to achieve, to thrive, and to take on the world."
