Three Arrested, Gun and Ammo Seized in New Bedford

Three New Bedford men were arrested Friday after an investigation conducted by the New Bedford Police Department gang unit.

Detectives encountered the men in a vehicle parked at Howard Avenue and Coggeshall Street. A loaded .45 caliber handgun (Hi-point) and ammunition were found in the vehicle.

The following arrests were made:

--William O’Neil, 18, of 37 Washburn St., Apt. 1, New Bedford, carrying a loaded firearm on a public way, carrying a loaded firearm, defacing the serial number on a firearm and carrying a firearm without a license.

--Jamareh Alphoso Allen, 21, of 277 Ashley Blvd. Apt. 2, New Bedford, unlawful possession of ammunition.

--Melvin Edyardo Pimental, 18, of 27 Hicks St. Apt. 1, New Bedford, unlawful possession of ammunition.

The arrests were made at 12:16 a.m.
