NEW BEDFORD — Two city residents and a Waltham man are arrested in New Bedford's North End.

Detectives with the New Bedford Police Department's Narcotics Unit were patrolling the North End just after 10 a.m. on Thursday when they observed suspicious activity in and around a vehicle that was parked in the area of 60 Tinkham Street.

Police investigated and found crack cocaine and cash.

Three people were arrested in connection with the discovery:

  • Johana Santiago Gonzalez, 41, of 37 Madison St. Apt. 1, New Bedford, was charged with possession of crack cocaine with intent to distribute and conspiracy to violate drug laws
  • Xiomara Pineda, 27, 193 Ashley Blvd. Apt. 2, New Bedford, was charged with possession of crack cocaine with intent to distribute and conspiracy to violate drug laws
  • Jose Arruda, 41, of 507 Stearns Hill Rd., Waltham, was charged with possession of crack cocaine with intent to distribute and conspiracy to violate drug laws

Police did not specify if the drugs and currency were found in the vehicle or in possession of any of the three arrested suspects.
