New Bedford Parks, Recreation, and Beaches has announced that new programs will be available to residents for the Spring 2021 and Summer 2021 seasons.

Youth Co-Ed Spring Flag Football

Starting on Saturday, May 1, children between the ages of nine and 15 will be able to participate in Youth Co-Ed Spring Flag Football. There will be seven players per team with games being five vs. five and held at Buttonwood Park on Saturdays from May 1 through June 19. No games will be held on Memorial Day Weekend. All COVID-19 safety guidelines apply.

Kids between the ages of nine and 11 will play from 8:30 to 10 am. Kids between the ages of 12 and 15 will play from 10 to 11:30 am. “Quarterback and Wide Receiver Skills” coached by Sam Schilling of Greater New Bedford Regional Vocational Technical High School will be on Tuesdays from 5:30 to 6:30 pm. “Speed and Agility” Training coached by Norm Meltzer of New Bedford High School will be on Thursdays from 5:30 to 6:30 pm.

Dance for Kids

The studio on Pope’s island presents Dance for Kids at the McCoy Recreation Center. On Mondays from May 3 to May 24, you can introduce your kids to jazz, hip hop, contemporary, and musical theater. It is a great way to get kids moving and learning about the art of dance. Classes will be from 4 to 5 pm. Drop-ins are welcome to try a day. All COVID-19 safety guidelines apply. Register HERE.

Women's Soccer League

On Sundays starting July 11 and running through August 29, all who identify as women can play in a women’s soccer league through NBPRB. Games will be played at Riverside Park Turf Field from 8 am to 4 pm. The league will consist of six teams, with 17 players per team. Seven games will be played 11 vs. 11 with one rain date or round-robin on August 29. Click HERE for more information and to register.
