‘The Hunger Games: Mockingjay’ Trailer: The Real Games Have Just Begun
A new 'The Hunger Games: Mockingjay' trailer is finally here, and we're not just talkin' about that teasery footage of Jennifer Lawrence's Katniss Everdeen from Comic-Con. Lionsgate has been teasing this sneak peek all week, releasing brief snippets of footage here and there, but here's our first full look at Part 1 of the epic finale.
The 'Hunger Games: Mockingjay' trailer shows us what happened to Katniss after the climactic finale of 'Catching Fire,' after her and some of the other tributes were extracted from the arena -- the Girl on Fire is now set up in the underground District 13, that same district President Snow told everyone was destroyed in the civil war predating the films. Well, it's very much still there, and now Katniss must become "The Mockingjay" and lead the rebels against the tyrannical Capitol.
While this 'Mockingjay' trailer is exactly what fans have been waiting for to whet their palettes -- Katniss' exploding arrows, new characters like Natalie Dormer's Cressida, Peeta's seemingly villainous turn -- moviegoers should be just as excited for the continuation of director Francis Lawrence's vision. After the first installment, he revitalized the franchise with 'Catching Fire,' a great piece of cinema on its own, and we're tickled with excitement at what's in store for the next two films.
Lionsgate split 'Mockingjay' into two parts, and this trailer is for 'Part 1,' which hits theaters this November 21, while 'Part 2' drops November 20, 2015.
