Editor's Note: Due to the dNB Holiday Stroll being postponed until Saturday, December 10th, The Grinch will now appear at Cojo's Toy World on Sunday, December 4th.

On Saturday, Dec. 3rd, families will flock to downtown New Bedford for the annual dNB Holiday Stroll.

From seasonal activities to live music and holiday treats, the Christmas spirit will be alive and well, but one guest who may try and ruin it.

The Grinch will stop by Cojo’s Toy World on Purchase Street, and it’s up to the holiday strollers to make sure his festive spirit sticks around.

This weekend, Purchase Street in New Bedford will be lined with decorative storefronts and busy shoppers, and among the spirited festivities awaits The Grinch outside of the popular toy story store known as Cojo’s.

“We are thrilled to have The Grinch back,” said Ted Bolduc, co-owner of Cojo’s alongside Jason Aguiar. “We’ve worked with The Grinch on quite a few events over the years and he’s always a huge crowd pleaser.

Aguiar joked, “Santa is very busy this time of year and the Grinch has nothing to do. If we keep him occupied, he won’t scheme to ruin our holiday.”

While The Grinch may get a bad rap, we all know he’s a big softy on the inside.

“Some of the younger kids can be startled at first, but they usually warm up to the green guy,” Bolduc said. “Everyone wants a photo with him once they see him in person. He usually slows down traffic with a few head turners on Purchase Street.”

Families can take pictures with The Grinch outside of Cojo’s Toy World starting at noon on Saturday.

It also sounds like Mr. Grinch is turning a new leaf and looking to give back this year, as he will be accepting donations on behalf of Lighthouse Animal Shelter in New Bedford.

In his spare time, New Bedford's Grinch is a volunteer for the shelter and takes the dogs on walks whenever he can. Donations are not necessary but are appreciated.

If SouthCoast Dogs Had a Dating App, It Would Look Something Like This

August 26 is International Dog Day, and it got me thinking. What if there was a way for dogs to connect with other dogs in the area to make new friends? Or maybe even find love? Twenty-six dogs living on the SouthCoast sent me their profile picture and bio. Let's see the eligible pups.
