It was a quiet weekend shark-wise in Fairhaven. After unconfirmed reports of shark sightings last week, Fairhaven officials have been keeping an eye out for any signs of the ocean predators.

Fairhaven Harbormaster David Darmofal says his department had two patrol boats on the water all weekend, with no shark sightings. A State Police helicopter also reported nothing after several fly-overs. Darmofal says patrols will continue today.

A 13 foot, 1,500 pound great white shark washed up on a Westport beach Saturday. It's not known how it died. The carcass is staying put as it is too heavy to move. Officials in that town have reopened beaches after they were closed for a short while after the shark washed ashore.
