Fall River-Somerset Veterans Memorial Bridge Test Openings Planned

If you're planning to drive over the Veterans Memorial Drawbridge linking Fall River and Somerset on Sunday morning, you might want to find an alternative route.

The Massachusetts Department of Transportation will be conducting test openings of the drawbridge, starting at around 7:30 a.m. on Jan 10. Each test will take about 20 minutes to perform. The entire test operation is expected to last about four hours, MassDOT said in a media release.

The $290 million bridge over the Taunton River was dedicated to area veterans on September 11, 2011.
