The President of the New Bedford Educators Association says morale is very low in city schools.

Lou St. John made the comment Monday night during a School Committee meeting after committee members had praised the administration about the smooth beginning of the school year.

During the public comment period, Lou St. John said class sizes in New Bedford are "huge," many of the goals set by the central office are unattainable, and resources are lacking.  Supt Pia Durkin was unfazed by the criticism....

St. John said he's also received reports about administrators threatening teachers.

Mayor Jon Mitchell says its the first time he's heard that complaint, and St. John should discuss it with the Superintendent Durkin.  Mitchell says the school district has a proven leader, and he supports her 100%.
