TAUNTON (WBSM) — An investigation has been launched following the death of an infant in Taunton last weekend.

911 Call Leads to Emergency Response

Bristol County District Attorney Thomas M. Quinn III announced today that at 11:40 p.m. on Friday, April 24, Taunton Police responded to a 911 call regarding an unresponsive infant at 1472 Somerset Avenue.

Infant Transported to Boston Hospital

Taunton Police and EMS arrived to find an unresponsive eight-month-old male infant. He was transported to a local hospital for treatment, and then airlifted to a Boston hospital. He was pronounced deceased at 9:20 a.m. on Saturday, April 25.

Cause of Death Still Unknown

His identity was not released. The D.A.’s Office said the cause and manner of death are pending from the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner.

Investigation Now Underway

The infant’s death is under investigation by Massachusetts State Police detectives assigned to the D.A.’s Office as well as Taunton Police. No further information was provided.

Playing cards are being distributed to inmates in Massachusetts correctional facilities depicting the victims of unsolved murders and disappearances in the hopes that some inmates may recognize them and help bring closure to their cases.
