Massachusetts State Police say they'll continue weekend patrols on Routes 24 and 195 during the holiday season.  During a news conference Wednesday at the northbound Service Plaza on Route 24 in Bridgewater, State Police described the summer patrol campaign as a big success.  Trooper David Wordell worked out of the Dartmouth barracks this summer, and he believes both highways were safer.

State Police arrested a total of 47 alleged drunk drivers during the summer months on Routes 24 and 195.  And according to State Police Major Anthony Thomas, the weekend patrols will continue around Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year's.

Officials say additional troopers will be added to the Dartmouth and Middleboro barracks to cover those holiday patrols.
