Westport River

The Westport Fire Department had its hands full Monday morning when a series of unfortunate events resulted in four vessels and two separate docks catching fire.

Eight people ranging in age from 14 to 24 were on the boat that crashed in darkness off Cadmans Neck.

A mission to protect the Westport River and the coastal environs of Buzzards Bay, and educate area residents about the watershed, and its relationship to the environment in and around it.

The University of Massachusetts at Dartmouth was awarded $525,967 by the Environmental Protection Agency to study how effective oysters are when it comes to cleaning local waterways.
