Mayor of Fall River Paul Coogan stated that he is "disappointed" with the harbormaster's sudden resignation, and spoke out against allegations made in the former official's July 13 letter that the city denied him access to his own department's funds, among other claims.

On July 13, Fall River Harbormaster Bob Smith tendered his resignation effective the next day — and according to his publicly posted resignation letter, it's due to the city's current administration.
